Post-COVID Life – A New Beginning, A New Era

“Learning never stops” is something we all learned the hard way when the Covid-19 pandemic broke around March 2020. Facts suggest that around 1.5 million schools across India shut down amidst this life-threatening wave. In the initial period, all of us remained clueless as the COVID bomb had hit us abruptly and deeply. The sudden lockdown affected almost everybody in some way or the other. However, the most affected were the children as suddenly their life took a 360-degree turn, and they had to be confined within the boundaries of their home.

With schools closing down, their routines got disturbed. They were cut off from their friends and peers, and even the education impartation process got disturbed. Not just us, at The Navyandhra School, but, in fact, all the educational institutions across the world, were striving to do the best in their capacities to keep the education impartation process for kids undisrupted. Ultimately, after a lot of back and forth, education shifted from offline to online medium.

Though with diligent efforts from the schools, teachers, and parents alike, the learning process was resumed for children, the scenario was much different. Children would now get ready for school but eventually, land in one corner of the house before a computer. We, at The Navyandhra School, being one of the top 5 schools in Gurgaon, poured in a lot of efforts to ensure that even though the personal touch involved in classroom learning went missing, the online sessions could be made as fun, interactive, and engrossing for children as possible.

Finally, after more than 1.5 years, with massive vaccination drives running across the country, the COVID situation came under control, and children finally found their way to the school. Education now has a new meaning for children. With the teaching-learning process entering a new era in the post COVID life, it is now time to make a new beginning.

Children are excited to return to school post Covid-19 – Here’s why:

After being under an inevitable house arrest for months together, children are excitedly back to their school, teachers, friends, and education. As such, some of the key things that the kids are finding the most exciting in this post-COVID school life are:

  • Cherishable classroom experience

At The Navyandhara School, we did put in our best efforts to make online learning fun and engaging and succeeded in providing our pupils with a great learning experience online. However, nothing can ever beat the experience of studying in a classroom amidst one’s classmates with a teacher delivering a lecture to the entire class.

As children made a comeback to the school, they looked forward to learning while having one-to-one conversations with their teachers and classmates. Even though only one child is allowed to sit on a bench and several other restrictions are also being strictly followed to prevent the spread of COVID, classroom learning is indeed a renewed experience for children after a long break.

  • Interpersonal relationships

Even though children did get a chance to interact with their classmates and teachers during the online sessions, most of it was short-lived and lacked warmth. Now, with schools reopening, the first thing children look forward to is to personally meet their friends and have long and deep conversations.

At The Navyandhra School, one of the top 5 schools in Gurgaon, we have always focussed on not only making our children academically proficient but also helping them improve their soft skills. After this unanticipated long break, we are encouraging our pupils even more to converse effectively with both teachers and their classmates.

  • Sports

Physical activity is essential for not just the body but also for keeping the brain active and going. This is something children missed deeply when the schools remained shut. Even though online classes did help children to keep in touch with their academics, their love for sports could not be taken care of. When children re-joined school, the first thing they wanted to do was to run towards the ground and engage in their favorite sport.

  • Extra-curricular activities

Just like sports, children missed their favorite extra-curricular activities too. The dance and music lessons, a quick martial arts session, and of course the art and craft class – though all of these extra-curricular activities were being conducted through the online mode, the charm somehow went missing. Children wished they could keep in touch with all of this and more in the physical presence and assistance of the teachers. With schools reopening, children can once again sign up for extra-curricular activities that appeal to them.

At The Navyandhara School, we have always stressed the importance of balance. We have always wanted our students to not just excel in academics but at the same time pursue extra-curricular activities of their choice. With this long Covid-19 related gap, we have been emphasizing the significance of balance a little too often and did try our best to provide the kids with the necessary assistance through the online medium as well. However, now, with our pupils back in school, we are looking forward to being back at all of these activities and much more with renewed vigor.

Covid-19 has changed the face of education!

Spanish Argentine politician, Josep Borrell, was quoted saying, “Covid-19 will reshape our world. We don’t yet know when the crisis will end. But we can be sure that by the time it does, our world will look very different.”

No denying, the COVID pandemic has made an impact on everyone’s life worldwide. People have lost their loved ones to Covid-19, businesses have shut down, people have lost their jobs, and economies as a whole have suffered.

The wave did not fail to touch the field of education as well. However, after the initial blow, the education system decided to stand up in the face of this hazardous wave.

Children started learning through online channels. However, in India, only 24% of households have internet access, which means the education system could not reach every child who had an urge to learn.

Eventually, after running a successful countrywide vaccination drive, India saw a ray of hope, and finally, schools were opened for children. The post Covid-19 scenario was different in the sense that children did not have a partner to share the bench with, or they could not roam around in clusters. Though, the good part was that schools did open!

However, yet again, the Omicron variant has struck with most states forced to shut down the physical classes at schools.

Having said that, we would like to end where we started. Learning never stops and shall continue! No matter whether the education impartation happens through the online mode, the offline mode, or a combination of both, what’s more important at the moment is to keep the education impartation process unaltered and unaffected. With the same aim in vision, we, at The Navyandhra School, ranked among the top 5 schools in Gurgaon, assure you to continue delivering the best of education and holistic development opportunities to our pupils. So, let’s embrace this new year with lots of hope and positivity and look forward to having a new beginning in a post COVID world!
